Epol Spring Resort and Falls - Marilog District

A WaterFall in it's tranquil state has always been very breathtaking. When I was still young  I always had this idea of traveling into the world and looking for the most magical waterfall landscape there is and by just looking at it you would know that it's ART. 

However, I also questioned myself on things like, what does it symbolise, what would be it's purpose, or what's the significance of it? But hey who knows right?  

Since I was eager to know about the fascinating landscapes, did a little bit of research and  I have come up with various of explanations as to how it's is being interpreted (pretty weird huh).

In literature water is frequently a symbol of change and is often present at turning points. It is in most cultures I can think of, a sign of life-no surprise, but when it comes to murky water, often a sign of death.

In Classical Chinese painting the waterfall has frequently been an element which in opposition to the rock represents yin and yang and is considered the symbol of impermanence as opposed to changeless. As an element the waterfall persists but is never the same.

The ancient Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, was inspired to ruminate on the waterfall as the continuous evolution of beings. The drops of water which make up the waterfall are renewed each second, just like the view in Buddhism of the purely illusory components of manifestation.

For me, a Waterfall is a majestic and enchanting picture of perfection. I look at it as peaceful, relaxing, and calm. The sound of a water falling down is music to my ears. (no wonder spas always uses water dripping or river flowing music). 

Now, in this case, I wanted to experience something way out of my comfort zone. I'm talking about nature and adventure meets the typical city girl. 

Epol Spring Resort and Falls in Marilog District offers that. It's hidden in the thick lushes of the captivating forest not far away from the downtown rush and it's just about 45 to an hour drive away from city. This has been highly recommended by many as it is one of the Tourist go to places in Mindanao so I had to experience it.  Also, If you love trekking then this would be a perfect place to go. 

If this would be your 1st time going there, there might be difficulties looking for it since it's just along the Highway and the signs are pretty small so you have to be very attentive and check all the signs because you just might miss it. When we arrived there, we immediately stopped over into a small house since we had to pay for an Entrance Fee I believe that was around 20-30 php if I am not mistaken (to those who still know it and is updated, I might have forgotten already, so comment down below, much appreciated Thank you). 

After that, we started to trek downwards following the forest trial where the Falls and spring area would be. It was around 15-30 mins. (I was full on exhausted) but looking around in amazement how wonderful our Mother Nature is, somewhat you get to appreciate and recognize the wonders of nature, and hopefully it will be preserved knowing that this is also a Government owned land. 

But when we arrived to the place, I was in awe for a split second,

And No! These does not have any filters on it. Its just amazingly enchanting.

There are no high-end amenities as any resort would. Although, you can really make use of the what's around the area, there's nothing much really except the wonderful picturesque view of the place, 
You can go up those rock formations on the sides if you're a Dare Devil or, if you're afraid of heights you can just stay, take a dip and enjoy the fantastic scenery while embracing the cold spring waters. The falls actually cascades a cold water that plunges into a natural pool.

Nipa Huts are also at the sides if you are in groups, but very limited.

So far I really enjoyed it a lot, especially the cold spring waters partnered with the cool breeze of the forest. 

Sad that I had to cut short my trip and went straight back to Davao but when I arrived I immediately shared my experience with my cousins whom as well  had the most amazing time with the said resort, they told me before it was called Green Valley Waterfall then it was changed to EPOL which stands for "Everlasting Power Of Love". Surely a lovers destination too!

At one point they told me that they were all captivated by Epols Magical Spell. I personally do not want to disagree because I also have experienced it, you will surely be lured into Mother Natures wonderful creation as it was really astonishing.

They were right, now I know why EPOL is one of the go to places to recommend tourist or in my case a typical city girl who is curious and wants to experience how it feels like to go on a nature trip. Not only that it was amazingly beautiful I get to experience first hand the magic of being "in-love" with the place that only this majestic landscape view can share with you.

Things I personally suggest would be the following:

• Bring only what you can, since there's not much area to leave your stuff

• Don’t wear slippers/flip-flops. Wear sandals.
• The path tends to become slippery and muddy especially during rainy season.
• Bring your own food and drinks.
• Day Trip is advised!  You are to leave the spring resort before the sun goes down. For safety purposes, since it tends to be fogy if you would leave late afternoon.
